It’s so crazy to think that this is the same girl I sat next to in 9th grade Biology class…the quiet one I rarely heard speak that entire year. So crazy to think that this is the same girl from my little lunch table clique. When the Music in Action program gave her the opportunity to surprise us all with her singing voice for the first time, I often wondered where that voice might take her. Just a few years later she’s got shows, recorded material, and quiet a bit of notoriety under her belt….and….she’s going abroad to tour with JOAN BAEZ. I couldn’t be more proud to have been her friend during high school. And I couldn’t be more proud to have graduated from Performing Arts. Seeing an article like this in Artvoice makes me feel so nostalgic for those days back at Performing Arts. Despite how much of a drag high school could be at times, we always felt as if there was something big waiting for us at the end. That somehow our songs and our scripts and our video projects would mean something to the world. It’s reassuring to know that, for one of us at least, that feeling was spot-on. It’s almost enough to revive the hope I had when I was young and not afraid to dream….the hope that maybe somehow, we were special afterall, and that some slice of the world really was ours for the taking. If one of us has made good on that dream, I know we all can. You go, Grace!
